Foreword
Having taught English to Turkish law students for more than 15 years, I have written this book to collect together the knowledge I have tried to impart to my students.
I have designed this book to be a guide more than an instructional book as a way of reminding lawyers of the techniques I have taught in my various courses. To some, this may be a bit simplistic but is designed to target the level that many of my students have had.
There is great overlap between the English-speaking word and the common law system, so many of the examples deal with the common law because that is the context in which they are normally used.
I wish you success in your study of legal English and the practice of law.
